Washington, DC – June 6, 2024 – Knollwood Community, an award-winning, 501c 3 charity and senior living community located adjacent to Rock Creek Park, proudly announces the integration of the innovative GaitBetter system into their unique and comprehensive fall prevention program. Recognized for their commitment to pursuing and applying the most innovative services for their residents, Knollwood continues to uphold its reputation as a leader in senior living.

As part of their ongoing effort to help their residents live their best lives, Knollwood has acquired the GaitBetter system, a state-of-the-art technology designed to revolutionize fall prevention strategies. Developed based on the latest scientific research, which identifies cognitive decline, particularly in executive function, as a primary contributor to falls among older adults, GaitBetter offers a groundbreaking approach to addressing this critical issue and greatly reduce the risk of falling in older adults.

“At Knollwood, we are more than a community. We are family and our number one priority is to ensure that all our residents thrive,” says Remi Ackerman, Chief Operation Officer, Knollwood Community. “With the introduction of the GaitBetter system, we are taking a proactive step towards helping our residents stay mobile, independent, and cognitively healthy.”

The GaitBetter system utilizes non-immersive virtual reality technology to deliver motor-cognitive training that simulates real-world challenges. By engaging people in tailored exercises and activities, GaitBetter aims to improve executive function and enhance overall mobility, thereby reducing the risk of falls and promoting greater independence. “We are excited to team with the premier senior living organization in the D.C. area and their passion for using technology to improve lives,” says Hilik Harari, CEO of Gaitbetter.

Knollwood’s integration of the GaitBetter system reflects a deep commitment to adopting cutting-edge solutions that deliver tangible benefits and allows all residents to stay engaged in the vibrant culture of Washington, D.C.
